Join us for a unique calligraphy experience that offers not only hands-on practice, but also a glimpse into Japanese daily life.
Lesson schedule (1 and half hours)
- Meeting at the nearest station, and walk to the instructor’s house (5 minutes)
- Introduction to tools, writing systems, and the basics of calligraphy (15 minutes)
- Basic writing exercises such as lines and circles (15 minutes)
- Choose a character or word you would like to write; demonstration by the instructor （10 minutes）
- Practice time to refine your strokes (30 minutes)
- Final work: Write your chosen character or word on a fan or Japanese traditional colored paper (10 minutes)
- Walk back to the station
- All materials are included in the lesson fee
You can take your fan or paper with your finished calligraphy home as a memorable souvenir.
